About this site

What Buffalo Sports Daily publishes, why it avoids news, and its independence from the Bills, the Sabres, the NFL and the NHL.

Buffalo Sports Daily is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, the National Football League or the National Hockey League. It does not use team marks or logos, and nothing published here should be read as a statement from either club. For official information — tickets, fixtures, roster moves, club statements — go to the teams' own channels.

What we publish

Evergreen explanatory writing about Buffalo sport and about the leagues the Bills and Sabres play in. Four categories:

  • Context. Why Buffalo's fandom behaves the way it does, and the history that produced it.
  • Practical guides. What attending a game in Orchard Park actually involves.
  • League mechanics. The salary cap, the draft, and the rules that decide what teams can and cannot do.
  • History. The four Super Bowls, the Sabres' Cup Finals, and the phrases Buffalo uses to talk about both.

What we do not publish, and why

No news, no scores, no standings, no rosters, no coaching staff, no predictions, no rankings, no betting content.

The name is inherited from the domain, and we are not going to pretend it makes us a wire service. A site that cannot cover a season in real time should not publish pages that go stale within a week and then sit there misinforming people. Wrong currency is worse than no currency. Everything here is written to be as true in three years as it is today, and where a fact might drift — a stadium name, a transit arrangement — we say so on the page and tell you to check.

Sourcing and accuracy

We write from well-established, widely documented material and we deliberately avoid precision we cannot stand behind. If we are not confident of a score, a date or a statistic, we describe the thing generally rather than inventing a number. You will notice this most on the history pages, which are lighter on figures than they could be. That is the trade we have chosen.

For the record: for the four Super Bowl seasons, the Hall of Fame inductions, and the Sabres' Final appearances, the league archives and the two sports' Halls of Fame are the authoritative sources and are more detailed than we are.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, email us. We will correct it and note that we did. Corrections are not embarrassing; leaving an error up is.

Trademarks

Team names, league names and the marks associated with them belong to their respective owners and are used here only to identify the teams and competitions they refer to.
